My Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life Review

It's been awhile since the last episode of the series came out. I have been a fan since its first airing and i couldn't contain my excitement when i first heard that Netflix is doing a 4 part miniseries about The Gilmore Girls. It focuses on their lives after 10 years or so. And each part was named after each season of the year. Winter. Spring. Summer. Fall.

Winter
It all began when Rory went back for a visit in stars hollow after writing for The New Yorker. The weird mother and daughter banters has always been my favorite part. Lorelai is always a delight to see she never ages. Rory is in a somewhat transition going back and forth to London, New York and Stars Hollow. And I was i bit shocked that Rory and Logan were still in a relationship but in a "what happens in London, stays in London " type of thing. As usual Lorelai and Luke has a steady living in situation. And as always Lorelai and her mother, Emily has always been at each others throat. I was so moved on how they paid tribute to Richard (Lorelai's dad). Emily was still grieving about Richard and was doing all sorts of things to overcome it.

Spring
During this time, Lorelai suggested that her mother went to therapy. Little did she know that her mom wanted Lorelai to be with her during those sessions. The sessions went on a couple of times but mostly they just sat around and not talk with each other. Rory and Logan's relationship was still incognito since Logan was engaged and Rory has a boyfriend. These naughty naughty kids! Rory was co authoring a book but was really having a difficult time with the client. Rory went back to Chilton for an alumnae talk and was encourage by the headmaster to consider teaching there. Luke was asked by Emily to have dinner with her to tell him that Richard gave him some money to build Luke's Empire.

Summer
Rory is back in Star Hollow but she kept telling everyone that she's not back. She tried saving the Stars Hollow gazette by being the editor in chief. being one means she has to do all the things by herself even distributing the paper itself. Lorelai volunteered to be part of the Stars Hollow musical . during the screening she criticized the entire musical since it's just a compilation of some other broadway musicals. Lorelai then visited Emily to check up on her but was surprised to see another man with her.  During this time Jess(ahhhh dreamy Jess) visited Luke to help out in the diner plus to visit Rory. He suggested that Rory writes a book about her mom and their relationship. Rory took his advice but when she mentioned it to her mom she wouldn't allow her to write it. They had a huge confrontation about it.During the end, the Stars hollow musical was revised and Lorelai had an epiphany when the lead star was singing unbreakable (credits to youtube.com/continualBro). Lorelai told Luke that she wants to do the wild and be with nature and find herself.

Fall
Finally, the last episode (hopefully not). Lorelai went to hike the Pacific Crest trail. She couldn't seemed to figure out how the heck she'll fit all the her things in her backpack. She gained a few friends along the way but was not able to hike the trail. She forgot where she put her permit. BUt by chance he was able to see a trail that somewhat captured her fancy. She called her mom and told her about her fondest memory of his dad.(eyes were sweating right about now). While Lorelai was away Luke was a disaster and was not functioning AT ALL. Worried that Lorelai might leave him , he just couldn't bear that. Rory, on the other had was visited by Logan and his weird but super wealthy friends. And for the last time , Rory and Logan parted ways. Emily sold their ancestral house saying that it never felt home after richard died. The best part of this episode (one of the best) is the wedding of Lorelai And Luke. Lorelai gave Rory the permission to write the book. Rory told Jess about it and thanked him. I think Jess still has feelings for Rory more that he can admit. With all the character cameos in the whole series suki's cameo was the one that i was really waiting for got me teary eyed a bit.  The night before the wedding they realized that they should have just eloped and the pressure will be off. They had an idea of getting married that night.  And the ceremony was very Lorelai. Very natural. NOW the biggest reveal. Rory confessing she's pregnant.

That last scene was not a surprise to me. There was a scene where Rory went to his dad to tell him about the wedding. And asked him if he regretted not being a part of her childhood and raising her up Her dad explained that as much as he loves her he was not ready for the responsibility that time. Oh i just wish they'd do another season. There were so many unanswered questions. Who's  the father of Rory's unborn child?(obviously it's Logan but i was really hoping it's not) What will Jess do when he finds out about it?(sorry really routing for a Rory and Jess love team here) Will Lorelai and Luke eventually push through with the surrogacy? will Emily be truly happy in nantucket? will michel really leave? and will suki stay? See? soooo many questions that can only be answered if they'll make another season. I sure hope so. I'll wait even after another decade.
